Home Workouts For A Flat Belly

It doesn’t matter whether clients are personally trained by me in Calgary, Canada, or use the videos, everyone wants that six-pack and toned abs. That’s why there’s focus on home workouts for a flat belly in all of my videos. However, no matter how toned you are, if there’s fat that hides those toned muscles, nobody is going to know. No matter how many spot exercises you do, the only way you lose fat is to lose weight. It comes off all over your body, not just in one spot. My workout videos are also created to burn the most calories, which helps reduce overall body fat and reach your goal of a flat belly.

Start with compound exercises and full body workouts.

You want to do two things to get the flat abs you desire. Burn fat and build muscle. Compound exercises uses several muscle groups and joints at once, so it’s easy to understand how they burn more calories than exercises that focus on one muscle group. You’ll find a complete workout to burn maximum calories in my Get Ripped DVDs and downloads, but there are a few compound exercises that are super calorie burners. These include squats, push-ups, burpees and plank.

Start burning off fat, but build those abs at the same time.

Have you ever tried a bicycle crunch. It’s a belly burner and ab builder. Lay on your back with your hands behind your head, lift the right leg off the floor slightly, bending the left leg at a 90 degree angle. Lift your upper body bringing your right elbow toward your left knee and back as you straighten your left leg. Then bring the left elbow toward the right knee bending the right leg and bringing it toward you. The leg motion will be like pedaling as you alternate bringing the elbows toward the opposite knee, crossing your body as you do.

Make it easy by doing planks.

Okay, it might look like you’re making it easier, but it’s super tough to do and burns tons of calories. The plank starts by lying on your stomach with toes touching on the floor. Lift your body. Your forearms should be flat on the floor with the elbow directly under your shoulders. Your back should form a straight line from your head to your heels. Hold that position for a minute and as you get stronger, make that time longer. You can do it while watching TV and not miss a single scene. It’s a tough workout that looks simple.

  • Weight loss is important, so burning more calories through tough workouts is part of the solution, but you have to eat healthy, too. Focus on eliminating sugar, fried food and refined grain products and eating more fruits and vegetables.
  • While the bicycle crunch is a good exercise, so is bicycling. If you don’t own a bike, some cities provide bike rental. Consider using a bike for short trips, rather than driving and add a basket so you can use it for grocery shopping. It helps the environment, too.
  • You can use the vacuum isometric exercise anywhere, any time. Stand tall, blow out air as you bend forward and then pull your tummy in, as though you were trying to get it to touch your backbone. Stand up, hold as long as you can and then inhale and relax.
  • Grab the kids jump rope or buy one and join them. Jumping rope not only burns tons of calories, it helps build those abs. My DVDs are complete programs to help you get that flat stomach you want.
